Wildlife is everywhere.

Wildlife is all a round us every time of the day.
We put some seeds out on the bird table, apart from the rat we also had a visit from this Robin

I went out on a dog walk this afternoon, we took a couple of photos of some insects.

Trying to sort out our old nest box cam

 Great place for wildlife

Rats

Rats are a pest aren't they? Well not to me they aren't, they are a little animal that likes a lot of leftovers.
What do you think?

By The River

The highlight of today was seeing a barn owl by the river. When we set off down to the river we saw an owl box, about an half a hour later we saw a barn owl flying passed us.

On the river itself we saw some baby ducks with it's mum and dad, we also saw Herons, Moorhens and 2 Swans.

Scoobycam

Another attempt at Scoobycam failed.
This time we attached the GoPro to Scooby's  harness but the film came out really wobbly. We will need to find another way.
Scooby cam - second try

Because it was raining all day we just took some photos of the birds around the garden.
Greenfinch

Rook
Magpie
The Greenfinch has a nest in our fir trees. He eats seeds, insects and berries.
There are two Magpies, they came to our bird table to eat the seeds, they make lots of noise.
The Rook lives in a rookery across the road. They are very noisy in the mornings when they gather on the telephone cables before they go into the fields for the day.
Yesterday something dug up our front lawn. I think it was the rooks looking for insect larvae.

Question for today
What is your favourite bird?

It's raining

It's been raining all day so far.
It's my birthday in two weeks and my Mum and Dad said they would buy me a trail camera for my birthday. There are so many to choose from.
I can't wait to be able to see what goes on in my garden when I am asleep.
I know we have deers and lots of owls visit the garden.

Badger watching tonight was a success. Due to the rain today, there were lots of snails. Badgers love snails to eat. Crunching snails sound very loud.
One of the badgers came right up to the tree we were hiding in, stood on it's back legs and sniffed us, must have been Grampy Dave's garlic humous.
I am now covered in midge bites, garlic doesn't keep them away.

Bank Holiday Monday

Once again we went badger watching last night. We saw 4 badgers together, all we got is one not so clear photo but you can still see the badgers.
We didn't stay for long because someone was shooting and that scared the badgers away from us.

In the wood behind us there are two ponds, one small that the foxes drink out of and one big that fish live in.

On today's dog walk we noticed more butterflies than usual. This butterfly is a peacock butterfly.

We have 7 pet rabbits, we have 4 rescue rabbits, one of them gave birth to babies 10 days after we got her, so we kept three of the babies as well.

Nature Reserve

Today we went to Hitchsopse nature reserve across the road from my village, I went with my family and Nanny .It was a such long walk to get there.

When we looked in the pond there were thousands of tadpoles against the side of the pond. There were a few that had started to grow legs.

We tried hard to see sand martins, we saw 3 or 4, but they were too fast to take a photograph.

Ants were every where under the rocks, with their eggs.

Last Night

Last night me, mum and my sister went badger watching, on the way up we saw baby rabbits.
When we got to the badger sett we climbed up into a tree, where they could not smell us. I was so excited but a little scared. We got surrounded by baby and grown ups, some fighting, some just wandering or digging. They make lots of different noises. One kept sitting and scratching like a dog, I think he must have had fleas.

We had to be very quite so we didn't scare them. After we had watched them for a while, we slowly left the sett so we didn't disturb them.

On the way back we heard tawny owls hooting. It was a very still night. We stood and watched the full moon rise over the trees, my mum used my sisters head as a tripod for her camera.

We also saw  two roe deer and a muntjac deer, we have lots of these deers around us. They sometimes come into our front garden.

finally sun (and cloudy)

I met David Bellamy, he talked about when he used to scuba dive.

This is a picture looking out across my road, on a good day you can see all the way to Brize Norton air base.

On this evenings dog walk there were skylarks singing, a lapwing making lots of noise and we spotted this hare in the field

Wind and rain

Tonight's dog walk was wet. There was a beautiful rainbow in the sky, but it was windy and rainy. We tried attaching my Dad's GoPro camera to Scooby's collar, to get a dog's eye view of the wood. It didn't quite work so I'll try again tomorrow.

The bluebells are out.

Managed to catch sight of a treecreeper and a buzzard, but most of the animals were sheltering from the rain
