Badger watching

Last night we monitered two badger setts at the same time.

It had been raining during the day and was quite windy when we left home. Maybe the rain made the badgers come out earlier.

At one sett we left my new trail camera for a hour. We had it set to take 10 second videos. The camera is triggered by motion in 0.8 seconds.

 
While Dad and Amelia took the dogs round the field, we went to peek at the other sett.
Ignore the dates on the film, I haven't learnt how to change it yet.

There were 5 badgers out at the other sett.

Jackdaws

        "The swans will sing when the  jackdaws are silent" 
                                     (This means that wise people will speak after the foolish have become quiet) 


I'm not sure that jackdaws are foolish at all, I think that they are clever.

We have two magpies in our back garden, sometimes they feed of the bird feeder.
They are very cheeky
They are a beautiful blue, black and green colour

Birthday

Yesterday it was my birthday, I got a load of new equipment.

 I got lots of books on wildlife, a hide and a trail camera.

Robin's nest update - We managed to have a quick peek at the nest when she was out feeding.
There are 6 eggs in the nest.
We have a webcam on the nest now, so we hope to film the eggs hatch.

The cows have escaped!

These cows are meant to be behind a electric fence but some of them have escaped.

Robin's Nest

Today we found a Robin's nest in my Dad's garage.

It took us by complete surprise.  It has been going in through a broken window.  

Northmoor Lock

We watched this little bird for ages while looking for a Kingfisher.

This moorhen was very upset about something in the reeds
